GOVERNMENT OVER-REGULATION – THE LAWN MOWER

This blog is normally devoted to issues and discussions affecting small business on a regional and national level, but this week’s article by Donna Perry in GOLOCALprov  is a great example of yet more over-regulation by our state leaders.  Turns out that the kid who mows my lawn is going to have to register as a ‘landscape architect’, pay a registration fee, and fork over even more money for a mandatory insurance policy.  So much for the $35 I pay him weekly to maintain my cubicle-sized lawn…

It’s another example of over-regulation by the state, this time, of a seasonal business that’s run by a teenager.  As Ms. Perry points out in her article, most of these proposed ‘landscape architects’ are family-run seasonal businesses, generally providing some extra pocket change to kids (and sometimes dads) who can ill afford to be sucked into the state’s regulatory bosum.  Read the article at http://www.golocalprov.com/politics/donna-perry-january-20/, then call your legislator and tell them to focus on real issues…
